War Fair- Holidays at Home at a Fete in Russell Square, London, 1943 A member of the Women's Auxiliary Air Force plays a game at the Russell Square fete. The aim is for the WAAF to roll a penny and get it to land within the lines of a particular square, in order to win the numbers marked within the square. Amongst the civilians watching her as she plays is an American airman, wearing RAF wings. According to the original caption, "his double wings meant he had once flown for Britain": he would have been a member of an Eagle Squadron.
