Bombs explode on the technical site of Italian-held Asmara airfield in Eritrea, during a raid by ten Vickers Wellesleys of No. 47 Squadron RAF, 1941. The escorting Hawker Hurricanes of No. 1 Squadron SAAF also attacked Italian aircraft on the ground which had assembled to fly to the relative safety of airfields in Ethiopia. Victor Sierra
