The Volturno River, Southern Italy, 12-16 October 1943: a 25 pounder self-propelled gun at an aerodrome near Grazzanise fires a round during the night barrage in preparation for the crossing of the Volturno by assault troops. The gun is mounted on the wreckage of a German aircraft to obtain more elevation. Victor Sierra
