The sub Cobalto fastly inspected by British sailors thanks to her slow sinking. During operation Pedestal (august 1942) the Cobalto was attacked by two British destroyers. Heavily damaged by depth charges, it was forced to emerge and to accept a gun fight. In the process she was rammed by the HMS Ithuriel. The 41 survivors of the crew were rescued and the Ithuriel crew, that had two sailors KIA, had some time to inspect the sinking sub and to take some photos. Note the huge gash in the sub turret. DVX
