British Forces
Imperial War Museum (collection) London.
Pair of British tanks during Operation Crusader, North Africa, 1941. The Imperial War Museum caption identifies them as "Crusaders". However, they appear to be the Crusader's immediate predecessor, the A 13 Mark II Cruiser Tank Mark IV. The A 13 and A 15 entered service within quite a short timespace, and closely resemble one another in many respects. However, the four road wheel construction of the left-hand tank, in particular, seems to distingish this A 13 from the five road wheel A 15 Crusader. Best regards, JR.
