Heinkel floatplane

unknown

Continuing the theme of RAF foreign aircraft.F58,flown in the fjords in western Norway by Kampgruppe Manshaus, during the invasion of Bergen, and sinking a few german(incl. ex-norwegian) vessels operating in the area. It was later flown to Tromsø in northern Norway and then at last to Shetland, where this picture is taken. Not sure if it ever received RAF markings as it seems that it was written off on test/ training flight so perhaps not a true British forces post? The Norwegian pilots praised the aircraft ( one of the most modern in their small airforce) but found it quote "interesting" to fly as everybody except the Germans shot at it !
