George Formby, "Down in the Maginot Line" (not...)

Daily Mail newspaper.

George Formby, British music hall comedian and ukulele player, entertains British soldiers in Normandy, 1944. Formby, with his mildly risqué Lancashire humour, was a great star in Britain in the 1940s, and performed for the British Forces throughout the war. I have previously referred to a comic song he co-wrote - "Down in the Maginot Line", in 1940. There is, I know a film of Formby performing this Phoney War Phenomenon actually "down in the Maginot Line" at the time but - alas ! - I have failed to find an image from it. Best regards, JR.
