French motorcycle troops killed in action, defending their country, May 1940.  They appear to have been killed by small arms or machine gun fire, perhaps in an ambush of some some sort - or perhaps it was just a surprise encounter.  The weapon lying in the foreground is a French Hotchkiss M1922 light machine gun, unloaded (no sign of the top-loading clip magazine).  Rest in Peace.  JR.

Crusader AA Mark III (CHAOS) of the Staffordshire Yeomanry, 27th Armoured Brigade at the beginning of Operation Goodwood, 18th July 1944. The Brigade familiar Seahorse badge is clearly visible on the front of the left stowage bin and the unit serial number (52) on the aerial bracket.
