Night Attack

http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=64692&p=1748100&hilit=Muzylowice#p1748100

Painted by Jan Gundlach, participant in the skirmish between elements of SS Germania Regiment and one Polish battalion, part of the 11th Carpathian Division. It was the night from 15th to 16th September 1939 and the Poles were attacking with bayonets only. Their rifles were unloaded. Such arrangement (unloaded rifles) was supposed to guarantee a close contact with the enemy; possibility of stopping and exchanging fire from a distance was eliminated. The place was village Mużyłowice, parish Bruchnal, district Jaworów, province Lwów.
