A British brewery has launched a beer named for Wojtek, famous Polish soldier bear and hero of Monte Cassino.  What greater tribute can be afforded to a beer-drinking bear who ate cigarettes and humped ammunition boxes ?  Best regards, JR.

Drawn with a piece of coal on the back of a Soviet map by German doctor and theologian Kurt Reuber, displayed in his bunker in Stalingrad and touched the hearts of many of his doomed comrades . The script says:
&quot;Christmas in the cauldron 1942 - Fortress Stalingrad. Light - Life - Love&quot;
Kurt Reuber died on January 20, 1944 in the POW camp Jelabuga/Tatarstan of typhus. The Madonna of Stalingrad is today displayed in the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin.
