Study of the old Registry Office, Munich, by an artist famous for other things - Adolf Hitler. The rather drab, stiff style is quite typical of Hitler's (artistic) work; this is, for me, one of the better ones I have seen. One can see, however, why the assessors of applicants to the Vienna Academy turned him down; there is a distinct lack of vitality and invention, and also a total lack of human beings - Hitler's paintings are generally light on people. Perhaps a reflection of the fact that architectural matters were generally his priority in painting - or, perhaps, a reflection of other, less innocuous aspects of his personality ? Best regards, JR.
