My Uncle Donald Weisel and Aunt Betty on Wedding Day. Donald was nearly cut in half on a landing craft at Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944. On the 50 TH Anniversary I found a man who held my Uncle until he died. He told Aunt Betty and I that Donald asked the man to take their wedding photo out of his pocket. Donald held it tight and looked at their wedding photo until he died as the other GI held him. Donald had fought all through North Africa and Italy and died on a landing craft on June 6, 1944.
