Here is an extract from my Grandfather`s diary "Then the firing started and the Japs knew we were there, they started throwing grenades down at us and as the grenades had a small red glow on the end we could see them coming down in the dark. One could only hope they would pass you before exploding, a lad next to me was hit and killed" The diary is quite a harrowing read and brings a tear to my eye everytime I read it know what he went through. I`m just glad he made it back in one peice !

My Grandad

William A Moore enlisted 7-22-1943 from Camp Shelby MS. Sent to Rome Italy and served 24 months as Sergeant Classification Specialist, then 4 months as S-SGT Personnel Sergeant Major. He was honorably discharged 3-10-1946. His number was 34 637 310. I have several pictures listed under my user name if anyone recognizes any of them.
