Imperial Japanese Army soldiers walk past the destruction left by the series of firebombing air raids of the United States Army Air Forces. On the night of 9-10 March 1945, 41 km (16 square miles) square miles of central Tokyo was destroyed. Over 1 million residents of Tokyo were made homeless and an estimated 100,000 civilians killed. Protection from the rear

B-17F Hell's Angels, tail number 41-24577, flight and ground crew. The first heavy bomber to complete 25 combat missions in the European Theater, May 13th, 1942. 
After completing 25 missions, Hell's Angels remained in the European Theater of Operations until 1944 and flew a total of 48 missions without any injured crewmen or abort.
