Sonderkommando Blaich (Pt.2) The raid was to be done in stages. The first leg connecting the old caravan trade center of Sahba, where the Italians had an airfield, and Campo Uno, a barren, flat stretch of desert south of Sabha that had been discovered by Maggiore Vimercati-Sanseverino in 1935. On this photo, the Italian airfield can be seen in the shadow of iconic fort Elena.
