Hitler had just landed on the airfield of Łódź, Poland, using a Ju-52 transport plane and greeted by the Luftwaffe honor guard. Behind him follows Hauptmann (captain) Gerhard Engel, while exiting from the door of the plane is Oberst (colonel) Rudolf Schmundt. On top of the plane a soldier provides security with a machine gun; September 13, 1939.
