One of the two ZP-14’s airship based at Cuers-Pierrefeu airfield, near Toulon, France, ((Blimp Squadron 14, Blimpron 14) on the mooring mast, Spring 1945. The transport aircraft in foreground is likely an US Navy’s Douglas R4D rather an USAAF’s C-47. On 28 April 1945 the British flagship of Northern Italy based at Longhorn requested an airship to aid in clearance of Genoa waters cluttered by many wrecks after the German retreat and with alleged mine’s presence. The airship was one of the two Cuers-Pierrefeu’s blimp, the K-101 which arrived at Pisa airfield (Advance Base No 3) on 4 May. The sweeping operations began on 5 May. Victor Sierra
