Dirlewanger's dog tag

~~~
The dog tag of SS-Oberführer d. R. Dr. Oskar Dirlewanger (September 26, 1895 - June 7 (probably), 1945). After the war rumours were spread that Dirlewanger was still alive and serving in the Arabian states. Therefore his body was exhumed in October 1960 and identified as his mortal remains (the dog tag was kept). Dirlewanger (who was -among other felonies- convicted for the rape of a 13-year old girl in 1934) got infamous for his unit's atrococities during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. As a POW Dirlewanger was tortured to death by former Polish forced labourers in June 1945 in Altshausen/Southern Germany.
