Dr. Emody's Aid Station, Don Army of Hungary, 1942

Dr. Emody

Dr. Tamas Emody served as an army physician in Hungary and was assigned to the Second Army's 43rd division with the rank of lieutenant. He not only treated many wounded soldiers, and saved many lives, like at this field aid station above, but was also a prolific photographer, blessing us with a collection wartime photographs, partially shown here. He took his fateful dog with him to the front, seen in the next photo. After the Soviet breakthrough, he disappeared at the town of Nikolajewka on January 19, 1943, never to be located. RIP, good doctor, and thanks to your family for preserving your revealing photos.
