In front to Roman ruins an aged Italian countrywoman and a child, perhaps her little granddaughter, puts a floral wreath of roses over the bodies of two American soldiers which has paid the supreme sacrifice to Rome’s liberation. A simple mercy’s act by a lower class’s woman which perhaps in this moment remember her son, a soldier. Fifth Army, Rome area, Italy, end of May 1944. Likely this young soldiers killed for the Rome’s liberation are two of 7,861 American soldier which rest in the Nettuno’s Sicily-Rome American Cemetery and Memorial. Victor Sierra
