Ship's emblem of U-142, a Type IIB u-boat that spent its whole career at sea on training exercises.  She was scuttled at the end of the war, never having launched a torpedo in anger.  One distinction she can claim - she is just about the only u-boat in the fleet never to record a casualty ...  Best regards, JR.
