"The master race at work", notes photographer Sergeant Dennis Smith on his dope sheet. Two German prisoners of war, guarded by a Glider Pilot, gather wood for cooking. The man on the right was one of four snipers taken prisoner. Note the MRC body armour worn by the pilot; Arnhem was probably the only time in the war when this armour was worn in action. It was supposed to be worn beneath the pilots' battledress, but many found it more comfortable to wear it on the outside.(rudeerude)
