A wounded crewman of the German submarine U-845 disembarking from H.M.C.S. ST. LAURENT en route to hospital; March 27, 1944. On 14 February 1944, German submarine U-845 was spotted and depth-charged by H.M.C.S. St. Laurent. When the U-boat surfaced late at night, she was attacked by St. Laurent and three other escorts, the H.M.C.S. Swansea, H.M.C.S. Owen Sound and H.M.S. Forester, with artillery, killing the captain and the bridge crew, as well as the crew servicing the AA guns. The rest of the crew survived the attack and was picked up by the escorts. Swansea picked up 23, Forester 17, and St. Laurent here, five men.
