Most likely, the 31R, captured by the Germans during the conquest of France in 1940, was used to protect the airfield and was destroyed during its capture by paratroopers. In the background one can  see an American landing glider.

Italian Campaign, likely late Autumn 1944: an American truck load of medical men stopped, likely because breakdown (the bonnet is open), along a high mountain road on the Northern Apennines during the approach to the Gothic Line.
