Douglas Macarthur, passing Australian Troops on the way to the front in New guinea. He was received in Australia almost like royalty after the fall of the Phillipines and appointed CinC of the allied forces in Australia and New Guinea, His misunderstanding of the New Guinea terrain and his perceived lack of progress made by Australian troops, led to many unecessary casualties.
