Well deserved rest

96th Infantry Division troops rest and sleep after capturing Big Apple Hill on Okinawa. Men of the US 381st Infantry Regiment, of the 96th Infantry Division, supported by the tanks of 763rd and 713th Flamethrower Tank Battalions, attacked and took an enemy held place called Yaeju Dake. This escarpment, a steep slope in front of a fortification known as Big Apple was the last in a series of tough Japanese defense lines on the south of the Island;  10th - 14th June 1945.
