Served in the South Pacific but mainly in the Philippines until the end of the war.  He was present during the signing of the surrender.

By the look on the faces of the weapons-ready GIs guarding this poor, weary German POW, one would think they are holding a vicious captive, who is waiting for the moment to escape and return to the war... Looks can be deceiving.
