The M4 Sherman, officially Medium Tank, M4, was the most widely used medium tank by the United States and Western Allies in World War II. The M4 Sherman proved to be reliable, relatively cheap to produce, and available in great numbers. Here it is shown at the General Motors proving ground.

 An American amphibian GMC DUKW is unloaded from the landing ship LST-543 on a floating pier in the Mulberry harbor, the British system of coastal structures, which are temporary seaports, used on the unequipped Normandy coast for unloading military equipment, personnel and supplies during Operation Overlord; France, June 1944.
