Romanian Aces of World War 2

Adj sef av Nicolae Burileanu poses alongside his Bf 109E shortly after his arrival on the Stalingrad front on 7 September 1942. His tunic is decorated with the Romanian pilot's wings, a German Frontflugspange, the ribbon of the Iron Cross, Second Class, and an impressive array of miniature decorations. Burileanu was one of the ”old hands” of Grupul 7 Vânătoare, and by the end of the war the 36-year-old pilot had scored at least ten victories. He subsequently became one of the few ”vânători” (fighter pilot) to succeed in post-war aviation, retiring after 32 years' service, and having flown a total of 50 types of aircraft. Victories: 10 confirmed + some probable.
