Polish cavalry did, in fact, have some success against the Germans the following September when (as was almost always the case) they were directed against infantry. However - and not surprisingly - they could not overcome the serious disadvantage suffered by cavalry when faced by well-organised infantry, particularly where the latter were equipped with modern magazine-loading rifles. In consequence, casualties tended to be heavy. Best regards, JR.
