Polish Halifax in Italy

An Handley Page Halifax Mk. II of No.301 (Polish) Squadron at Lecce, Southern Italy, July 1944 (note a RAF’s Beaufighter in background). The No. 301 Polish Bomber Squadron "Land of Pomerania" (301 Dywizjon Bombowy "Ziemi Pomorskiej") born on 1940 in Great Britain and afterword disbanded, on 7 November 1943, was reformed at Brindisi, Italy, when No. 1586 Flight was renamed. The squadron operated the Handley Page Halifax and Consolidated Liberator until 1945 also for special operations and supplies air dropping. After the return in Great Britain the Squadron was disbanded at Chedburgh on 18 December 1946. Victor Sierra
