Warsaw Uprising 1 VIII 1944

On the 1st VIII 1944,the Polish Home Army (AK) started an uneasy fight with much stronger German troops in Warsaw.That combat for freedom,honor,polishness and Warsaw lasted till the 2nd October 1944.Outnumbered and outgunned, Polish soldiers supported by the civilians showed to the whole world that honor and motherland are a crucial matter

Forgotten in the West and East,(apart from the RAF,USAF and New Zeland Air Forces ) had to struggle on their own to show what Poland was.

Warsaw Uprising is a phenomenon whan it comes to fights in Europe,occupied by the Germans.Irregular troops proved their worth.For the first time,for a such big scale in combats took part so many young people and civilianss-no one forced them to did so.Street combats were hard even for the Germans, as their supperiority in tanks and armoured cars was minimalized to the minimum.

After 2 months,Poles lost their capital but they definitely proved that a matter of motherland is a sacred matter for them.Bullets and combats were much more pleasant for them than the German occupation.

Today,in my Warsaw,all the state buildings,schools,city buses and lamps on the street are decorated with Polish flags and Warsawian ones.On TV,there are programmes about Warsaw Uprising.I live ina country where is still so much to do and improve llike medical care,roads and salaries but for that reason-for a reason of a respect for my own history,I am proud that I am a Pole and live in Warsaw.
