Ho Chi Minh, political leader of the resistance to Japanese occupation in French South Asia, pictured at his desk in the end-war period.  He subsequently led Vietnam's resistance to reoccupation by the French, and to the USA's attempt to maintain influence in the region through the puppet regime in South Vietnam.
