Ho Chi Minh (right), political and military leader of the Communist Viet Minh Vietnamese resistance movement (from 1944) and Viet Minh military leader (from 1944) General Vo Nguyen Giap in Hanoi, 1945.  After dealing with the Japanese, they polished off the French and - eventually - the non-Communist South Vietnamese government.  Altogether, a very long and costly war.

Line up of Caproni Ca.313S of the Svenka Flygvapnet, Swedish Air Force, on a Swedish air base. The Ca.313S was the name of 84 Caproni twin engines purchased by the Swedish government as “Emergency Purchase” and in part paid, as compensations, with fine materials necessary to the Italian war industry. The aircraft was delivered between 1940 and 1941 and shared for different roles: light bomber (Swedish designation B 16A), reconnaissance (Swedish designation S 16), torpedo aircraft/maritime recce (Swedish designation T 16) and light transport (Swedish designation Tp 16). Thirty of the was bombers (B 16A) and equipped, first delivery October 1940, the newly established bomber Wing F 7 at Såtenäs. Other Swedish Caproni’s wing was the F 11 at Nyköping and F 3 at Malmen. Three Swedish Ca.313 was shot down by German fighters, on 18 and 23 May 1944. Many other was lost in accidents and the career of the Caproni twin engines in Flygvapnet ceased just after the end of the WW2 and the planes was phased out and scrapped. None Swedish Ca.313 survived and the airframe today in the Swedish Air Force Museum is a replica 1:1 built for a movie. Victor Sierra

The future paranoid megalomaniac Communist "Respected and Beloved Leader" of North Korea with his first wife.  Picture appears to have been taken while Kim Il-sung was serving as a captain in a Chinese/Korean battalion of the Soviet Red Army 88th Brigade in the period immediately before and during WW2.  Their first child - the current paranoid megalomaniac dictator of the PRK, Kim Jong-il - was born while his father was in Soviet service - at Vyatskoye, on 16 February 1941.  Regards, JR.
