Dutch defenders of the "Death Dam", de Afsluitdijk in the North of Holland. At the Kornwerderzand they hold the Germans back. They were not defeated but had to lay their weapons down because of the surrender of the dutch government on may 14, 1940. Many were bittered but others offered, despite the disappointment , cigars to their enemies.
