Recently an eleven year old youth found this bomb in a Malta valley.This bomb was one of the first clusterbombs to be used.I was called 'butterfly bomb' because of the way it resembled a butterfly when its outer shell opened when released from an airplane.This caused the bomblet to spin,loosening a bolt and releasing a firing pin that armed the explosive.Between 6 and 108 of these devises were packed into containers that ,when dropped,opened and distributed the individual bomblets over a wide area.Greetz,Brummbar
