The only StuG III of Sturmgeschütz Brigade 242 (StuG Abteilung 242) survived to the heavy Allied Montecassino air and artillery bombardment on 15 March 1944. The StuG, crew chief Oberwachtmeister Schumann, remained hidden and under cover between the ruins of the Continental Hotel. In the ruins his crew rested during the day but during the night sustained effectively the Fallschirmjäger’s sorties against the enemy. This until April when was destroyed, as seem, by a New Zealander Sherman tank. Victor Sierra

A prototype PzKpfw VI Tiger (P)  also known as the Porsche Tiger was the second contender against henchel Tiger. The porsche had superior armor, but during test trials proved a failure the power steering often broke, the engine over heated, and can get stuck in mud vary easily. Henchel won the contact and only five were ever produce and only one saw combat and later the chassis where used to make the Elefant/Ferdinand tank destroyers
