On the night of 24 October 1942, under cover of a 600-gun barrage, the 8th Army attacked the Axis positions at El Alamein. After ten days of bitter attritional fighting, the heavily defended German line was breached. On 4 November General Montgomery's armour broke through and the pursuit of the defeated Germans and Italians towards Tunis began.

In the WW2 Mongolia gave the Red Army 65 million tugrics, 100 thousand dollars and 300 kilograms of gold. These funds were used to build a tank column "Revolutionary Mongolia" and the squadron "Mongolian Arat". In addition, the Mongols assembled for the military needs of more than 800 thousand horses. Every fifth overcoat worn by Soviet soldiers, officers and generals, was sewed of wool treated with the east ally. In 1942-1943, caravan care, which was held from Khovd to Biysk, brought to the the Red Army at Stalingrad, almost 10 thousand coats, sweatshirts, overcoats, 20 thousand pairs of felt boots, boots, several tons of dried meat.
And most importantly - in contrast to the Western lend-lease the assistance of Mongolia for the USSR was completely gratuitous.
