Liberated MG34

fbbrummbar

Canadian soldiers inspect a captured German MG 34 machine gun. With a rate of fire of up to 900 rounds per minute it was significantly faster firing than its Canadian army counterpart, the Bren gun. Although one can say that comparing the MG34 with the Bren is somewhat unfair, as they were two different classes of weapon. The MG 34 was a General Purpose Machine Gun whereas the Bren Gun was a Light Machine Gun.As to firepower not only has the MG34 a higher rate of fire but is is also beltfed(250 rounds) or drumfed(50 or 75 rounds depending on the drumtype). The Bren needs a magazinechange after 30 rounds(a 100 round drum was available but not ,as far as I know ,in first line units.
