Overlooking the countryside

   After leading the Eighth Army to defeat the Italians in Sicily, General Montgomery was made Commander of Legion of Honor Merit, which he received from General Eisenhower; August 6, 1943. 
   This is the highest order which the United States can bestow on a soldier of another nation.
