Page 1 of a letter sent to my Great grandmother regarding my Grandfathers service. 

British Hawker Typhoon IB fighter-bombers of Number 56 Squadron, Royal Air Force, during flight. - Throughout 1942 and 1943 the unit was based with No. 12 Group RAF at RAF Matlaske airfield in Norfolk, England. The main task of the squadron was patrolling the airspace over the southern coast of the United Kingdom and the interception of German fighter-bombers coming at low altitudes.
