Simple message ...

Unknown author/NSDAP

General election poster for an early 1930s general election in Germany. "(for) Work and Bread - vote No.1 for the National Socialist List (of candidates)". Nazi election posters of this period, along with related propaganda materials, continued to project a message with a simple "Left Nazi" flavor designed to appeal to the mass of working class and (importantly) lower middle-class voters who had been hit hard by the depression that followed the Wall Street Crash and subsequent banking crisis. Behind the scenes, relations between the Nazis and the industrial establishment (not to mention the reactionary Army) were a good deal more involved than would have been consistent with simple Left Nazi messages and, politically, Left Naziism had largely been sidelined within the Party since 1928. It would finally be beheaded in the "Night of the Long Knives", a little further on. Best regards, JR.
