This is my grandfather Paolo Carlo Parodi during the World War I. He became Captain of the Bersaglieri, the elite troop of Italian Army, when he was only 20 years.

I suppose some would not realise that a German Soldier was also very pleased to have some leave and see his two children. This photo was taken in Coswig by Dresden as we were evacuated there from Hamburg in 1940.
