Evacuation of wounded by air

US Army medical personnel are loading injured soldiers on stretchers into a Douglas C-47 aircraft (Skytrain) in the area of Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, France. On the left, with the rear door open, is a Dodge medical Field Ambulance vehicle, part of the 5th Special Engineer Brigade. When all loaded, they will be flown to England, flying time approximately 45 minutes.
