Hero of Omaha Beach
Description
Major General Norman Cota (1893-1971), Assistant Division Commander, 29th Infantry Division. Landed on Omaha Beach with the second wave, he was the highest ranking officer on the invasion beach, where he rallied the disorganized troops and lead them up the bluff... "Now get off your butts! You guys are the Fighting 29th..."
(On this photo he's shown with 28th Div. - "Keystone" patch)
