Description
Lt. Suella Bernard (left) and Marijean Brown (center) are congratulated by their head nurse after returning from their first Ninth Air Force evacuation mission in Normandy, following the June 6, 1944 D-Day invasion. The poppies (right) were picked from a mined field near the landing site in France.
