Formation assembly ship
Description
A war-weary B-24D, "First Sergeant" became the formation assembly ship of the 458th Bomb Group. Her whole front area had been painted white, then red, black and yellow polka dots were added...but underneath she was still the old Traveling Circus plane "Thar She Blows", a veteran of Ploesti and scores of other missions.(rudeerude)

Look's like a bullet magnet to Me.

Planes painted like this didn't go on bombing missions. The were just used to form up the group before a mission. Most were war weary planes.
