Yeah one thing that the russians had was tons and tons of equipment. That is one thing the Germans really never understood. They made equipment that could last for years when they rarely became older than a few months. The Russians understood what it took to win the war and that was cheap but effective equipment by the thousands. I'd rather have 500 tanks of ok quality than 50 with excellent quality. I think that for every Tiger destroy 5 Shermans were destroyed. That doesnt matter if USA build 10... I for one would not want to be in the receiving end of 100 Katyushas!

The thing to remember YGG is the Russians had lots and lots (and lots). Your comment about psycology is right as well. My Grand Father said Neblewerfers were the only thing that really scared him.

The nebelwerfer was better accurate, but the katyushas more than destructive.

    It looks very cool though...

I would argue the effectiveness of this type of systems. It was necessary to put up alot of these rocket launchers to have any real effect. I would say that the true effectiveness are that you put the fear of god into the hearts of the soldiers in the receiving end. A well dug in soldier would be largely un-affected by the rockets impact. But the nerves of the soldiers would not be the same after experiecing an attack. rescent days system are much more effective as the could hit a target more effective and with fewer rockets.

Cool! Looks like they produced quite a lot of those rocket systems.
