The Battle of Kiev

The first days of the year 1942. Soldiers of the Red Army in front of the memorial of the Battle of Borodino where Napoleons 'Grande Armee' suffered a humiliating defeat in 1812. Interesting: the two soviet soldiers are armed with german weapons: rifle 98k and MG 34.

History repeating

These russian unit tried to cross the frozen Ilmen Lake (correcting, not the Ladoga Lake) on their motorsleds. German artillery fire made this attack a failure though.
