Hello, rudeerude. Yamamoto was assasinated by US air forces on 18 April 1943, as a result of decoded radio intercepts indicating his likely whereabouts. It appears that he was awarded the RK, RK+EL and RK+SW (simultaneously, but - presumably - theoritically in sequence) by Germany on an honorary basis on 27 May 1943. Presumably, he already held the EK-2 and EK-1; but he may have been awarded these "simultaneously" on the same date under a separate citation - I do not know. Perhaps some of our friends In Here can enlighten us ? Best regards, JR.
